Responsibilities: Design, develop, and deploy AI and machine learning algorithms that connect patrons to their ancestors.
Mentor, teach and lead Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable AI solutions.
Build scalable and efficient data pipelines for processing and analyzing large-scale genealogical data.
Perform data exploration, feature engineering, and model evaluation to identify optimal solutions for complex problems.
Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning techniques and proactively explore their potential applications to enhance FamilySearch.
org.
Monitor feedback loops to ensure that models and algorithms are working as designed Understand all aspects of the data and find innovative ways it can be applied and used Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Statistics or a related field.
Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or a related field a plus.
Eight years of industry-recognized, progressive and relevant professional experience Significant experience designing, training, testing, and deploying deep learning models at scale.
Experience with Graph Machine Learning a plus.
Strong knowledge of modern Machine Learning technology such as Transformers and Large Language Models.
Experience with analyzing large amounts of data for machine learning and data science.
Exceptional skills in Python.
Intermediate Java programming skills is desirable.
Solid understanding of applied mathematics, statistics, and probability.
Use of essential Linux data manipulation tools like sed, grep, sort, regexes, etc.
Desirable: Experience with common ML packages and tools and using cloud services like AWS, and Google Cloud for ML pipelines.
Familiarity with cloud compute environments such as AWS.
Track record of self-teaching significant new concepts.
Excellent communication skills including the ability to create, communicate, and direct work toward accomplishing an overall technical vision.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and train peers Proven ability to work effectively with people of various educational levels and backgrounds.
Comfortable conversing with scientists, executives, engineers, and end users alike.
Ability to self-direct and work independently for extended periods as required.
Keen interest in foreign languages, scripts, and historical documents.
Beginner level of at least one foreign language desired.
