SUPERVISOR Parks & Cemetery Supervisor and/or Parks Technician Crew Leader POSITION(S) SUPERVISED None Essential functions Assists in performing daily maintenance of a variety of outdoor grounds facilities, park sites, pavilions, lawns and garden plots by power trimming and mowing; cleaning and removing trash and debris from outdoor recreation sites and preparing recreation areas, e.

, softball fields, for public use; performs grounds and play equipment construction; conducts safety inspections on play equipment in compliance with various regulations and to ensure liability mitigation.
Assists in performing seasonal projects; installs and repairs sprinkler systems and monitors watering schedules, beautifies landscape areas, creates new landscapes, seeds and sods, applies chemicals for weed control in turf and open spaces, winterizes water lines, shovel and sweep snow, either by hand or with a power blower, to clear parking areas and walkways.
Assists in maintaining public facilities for the City; cleaning, securing and monitoring equipment / facilities, making repairs to equipment / facilities; assist with minor plumbing, carpentry and basic repair, as necessary.
Operate powered equipment such as trimmers, edger's, tractors, dump trucks, snow blowers, snow plows, chain saws, sod cutters, chippers, etc.
Load and unload equipment and supply necessary to complete assignments such as; chemical fertilizers, trash, lawn mowers, weed eaters, mulch, and top soil, etc.
Assists in mixing and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
Load and unload equipment and supply necessary to complete assignments such as; chemical fertilizers, trash, lawn mowers, weed eaters, mulch, and top soil, etc.
Respond to emergency calls as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Some knowledge of horticulture, planting, cultivating, pruning, and general care for plant, trees, shrubs and flowers; application of pesticides, fertilization, and soil amendments; drainage control, sprinkler system operation and maintenance, including pumps, several types of heads, automatic controllers and weather stations; maintenance of all grounds keeping equipment; reading of landscape drawings and blue prints, installation of parks.
Skill in the operation of heavy mechanized equipment as required by the position, including snow plow/salt spreader, track hoe, front-end loader, back hoe, bobcat, Kubota, trenching machine, welding equipment, etc.
Ability to work weekends and holidays when needed; maintain safe working conditions; respond effectively and make responsible decisions in emergency or unusual situations; follow written and oral instructions; to establish and maintain good working relationships with employee's, supervisors and the public; perform manual or strenuous physical labor on a limited basis; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Special Qualifications: Valid Utah Driver License with a safe driving record.
