Principal Electrical Engineer

General Overview Provides extensive knowledge in Electrical R&D Engineering and working knowledge of other fields.
Designs, develops, and tests new IntelliServ technologies, including components, products and processes.
Responsibilities include electrical research and development, with a focus on development and use of theoretical models to create technologies that will enable the next generation of products and services offered by IntelliServ.
Capable of clearly defining appropriate technical approaches and solutions to most IntelliServ critical challenges.
Considered an expert with advanced knowledge in field of specialization.
Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods, and represents the organization to resolve important questions.
Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of own field and related sciences or disciplines.
Oversees work of more junior level engineers.
Overall, has more project management duties.
Essential Job Functions Serves as the lead technical expert for the technical team.
Establishes and enforces engineering Best Practices.
Designs test circuits.
Architects technical solutions and implements through delegation and individual contribution.
Supports the electronics engineering teams that develop, test, debug, characterize, and document equipment.
Evaluates IntelliServ mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs; applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
Works with personnel in other departments and other disciplines to complete project assignments.
Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods as well as testing properties.
Prepares IntelliServ specific product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Researches correct solutions and estimates timescale and costs.
Creates executive summaries, detailed test reports, and presentations to be used by internal and external audiences.
Evaluates materials and systems, identifies equipment, or prepares work instructions for manufacturing.
Trains and mentors other team members.
Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
Preferred Job Qualifications Education Bachelor's or Master's degree (ABET accredited) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology or in closely related field.
Experience 5 to 8 years of experience in field of specialization or MS degree plus 3 to 5 years of experience.
6+ years of previous experience in manufacturing plant environment is preferred.
6+ years of oil and gas industry experience is preferred.
Technical Competencies Experience using standard electronic test equipment such as DVMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, etc.
Experience with circuit design and wiring for reduction of EMI; circuit design and testing (analog and/or digital), and schematic interpretation.
Experience with testing Electrical, Electronic, and/or Electromechanical Products for harsh environment applications (extreme temperature, pressure, stress, etc.
).
Experience managing multiple priorities and complex projects.
Good mathematical, statistical and analytical abilities.
Experience with CE, UL, or similar certification process preferred.
Experience with analog or digital design preferred.
Experience with RF engineering/electromagnetics preferred.
