The Software Development Engineer 3 is an experienced professional, full-stack engineer who works independently on tasks and assignments from a Software Development Manager, a project technical lead, or the team.
This position utilizes solid knowledge, skills, and abilities with technology and programming languages to analyze, design, program, debug, test, modify, and write documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance of organization technology-related products, Internet applications, or information support systems.
As a member of the broader software development group, the Software Development Engineer 3 works with minimal supervision and direction and is expected to utilize their experience, full understanding of industry practices, and knowledge of Church policies and procedures to exercise judgment in selecting methods and techniques for solving problems of a diverse scope.
This position may also serve as the technical lead for a small team, a small to medium functional area, or for a short-term project.
This individual works with divine guidance to provide or support technology that furthers the mission of the Church and reflects the eternal impact of the gospel.
Implement plan to support site-wide front-end development strategy
Partner with UX team leads to determine strategy and priorities
Contribute to discussion for improving development practices
Collaborate with team leads to scope development of products
Lead front-end development for at least one product
Participate in Design roundtables and discussions
Facilitate understanding of development strategy and implementation with cross-functional team members
Participate in cross-functional teams to facilitate project objectives
Demonstrate UX mission and goals in product work
Participate in process development and improvement activity
Required:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
Work Experience:
4+ years of progressive and relevant professional experience
Demonstrated Skills & Abilities:
Familiarity with JS frameworks required, and React is a plus.
Experience working with high traffic systems a plus.
Responsible for the development of features in a single product area
Solid understanding of basic DOM scripting and client-side behavior
Knows current trends in front-end architecture (performance, accessibility, usability)
Has in-depth knowledge of HTML and CSS, emphasizing the separation of structure and style
Can debug cross-browser layout and behavior issues
Works with Product/Engineering to deliver work as specified and on schedule
