The High Voltage Electrician is responsible for the performance of a variety of electrical trade functions such as the troubleshooting, installation, testing, modification, maintenance or repair of equipment for the distribution of electricity at Dugway Proving Ground.
Responsibilities: Install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution lines (both overhead and underground), setting transformers, installing and removing special secondary services, trouble shooting, and correcting system faults.
Install or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as switching gear, controllers, circuit breakers, lines, poles and attachments, and other transmission equipment.
Inspect, test, repair, and replace electrical power substations and distribution systems, Inspect, test, repair, and replace the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system Complete operating log book in each generator room or location with current notations of services and/or inspections performed Install, maintain, repair and replace all uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems Inspect, repair, replace and maintain all control devices, meters, such as circuit breakers, air/vacuum circuit breakers (AVC), and oil circuit breakers (OCB) IAW manufacturer's specifications.
Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications, locates and diagnoses trouble in the electrical system or equipment, able to make working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment and using a variety of electrician’s tools and measuring and testing instruments.
Ensure work orders when complete are properly filled out and returned to work management.
Maintain and repair all transformers, perform power transformer maintenance and acceptance testing.
Inspect, test, maintain,and repair grounding and lightning protection systems Inspect, test, maintain, and repair voltage regulators.
Inspect, test, maintain, and repair busbars; switch gear; capacitor banks; poles, guy wires/lines and anchors, conductors, cross arms, and oil switches Inspect, repair, replace, and maintain on-street security, and other external lighting, such as airfield runway and helicopter pad marking systems Complete reports detailing services performed on the transformers; external grounding and lightning protection systems; voltage regulators; busbars; switch gear; capacitor banks; poles, guy wires/lines and anchors; conductors; cross arms; oil switches; lighting.
Maintain the Power Coordination Study and the Easy Power - Power System software suite #2 with current and accurate information, to include but not limited to, repairs, replacements, alterations, and addition of new infrastructure to the electric utility system.
Support the project Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of safety, including training and attention to the adherence to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades or skills.
This position has been designated as Mission Critical.
Mission Critical personnel are defined as those required to meet the Installation’s safety (including inclement weather) and security needs during lockdown conditions.
This position may be part of an emergency management/response team as required by the company to meet contract requirements.
Must wear and use all required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, safety shoes, ear plugs, hardhat, etc.
Performs other tasks as directed by supervisor Other duties as assigned Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Participation in relevant apprenticeship program or trades school preferred Minimum of five (5) year's experience at the journeyman level.
Journeyman-level certification.
Valid Utah driver’s license Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of high voltage electrical systems and equipment.
Ability to install equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
Ability to read, write and receive written and/or verbal instructions in English.
Ability to communicate with military and civilian customers.
Ability to organize and possess good communication skills, Ability to deal with all levels of people, both inside and outside the company.
Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Ability to obtain a CDL license.
