Position Summary: 626 Fabrication is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team.
As an Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in preparing accurate cost estimates for product fabrication, construction projects, or services.
Your work will aid in project planning, pricing, and decision-making.
This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
Major Duties:
Analyze design drawings, specifications and bid instructions to prepare an accurate estimate including detailing materials, labor, buyouts & freight.
Collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors, and subcontractors to address changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
Prepare estimates used by management for project planning, organization, and scheduling.
Generate estimates for vendor and subcontractor selection.
Provide post-sales or contract signing support to clients, resolving issues, and maintaining positive client relationships.
Review material and labor requirements to determine whether it's more costeffective to produce or purchase components.
Create cost and expenditure statements and other documentation at regular intervals during the project's duration.
Maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
Stay updated on market conditions, product innovations, and competitor products, prices, and sales.
Maintain and implement cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
Set up the tendering process and conduct negotiations as required.
Visit project sites to record essential information about access, drainage, topography, and service availability.
Understand job bid instructions, detail specifications, and prepare material take-offs for project components.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Structural and Miscellaneous steel Estimator.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and project documentation.
Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
Knowledge of construction and steel fabrication industry practices.
Familiarity with cost monitoring and reporting systems.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
A degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is a plus.
