Mine General Manager - Fossil Rock
JOB LOCATION: Fossil Rock Mine, Orangeville, UT
Wolverine Fuels is currently seeking a Mining General Manager at its Fossil Rock Mine located in Orangeville, Utah.
The Mine General Manager will be responsible for the overall production, safety, and efficiency of the mine, as well as the miners.
They are to be the representative of the mine at political, governmental, and community events.
They need to believe that the entire workforce can work safely and support safety process from top to bottom.
They will develop and implement safety procedures, as well as monitor compliance with safety regulations.
The Mine Manager will be responsible for the production of the mine and will develop plans to increase production.
They will also oversee the maintenance of the mine and will develop plans to improve the efficiency of the mine.
The Mine Manager will also be responsible for the financial aspects of the mine and will develop budgets and oversee expenditures.
The Mine Manager will need to effectively manage multiple departments and develop a strong team that will manage priorities, short-term as well as mid and long range.
Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and implement plans to ensure the safety of all mine personnel.
Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with mine personnel, government agencies, and the public.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Oversee the development and implementation of the mine's ventilation system.
Oversee the development and maintenance of the mine's electrical system.
Manage the construction and maintenance of the mine's buildings and infrastructure.
Oversee the underground production, maintenance process, and surface operations.
Control the budget and expenditures for the mine.
Monitor the production levels and quality of the coal being extracted.
Set Goals and Objectives for each department, hold managers responsible to operate their departments.
Develop a growth mindset culture that develops and promotes from within and helps employees
Investigate accidents and incidents at the mine and take corrective action as necessary.
Prepare reports on the status of the mine for executive management.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Engineering degree in mining engineering or related field preferred
15+ years' experience in the mining industry, with at least 10 years in supervisory or management role
Experience working in underground mines (preferably coal)
Proven track record of safety and production goals
Ability to develop people and effectively motivate people
Ability to manage difficult situations
In-depth knowledge of MSHA regulations
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
POSITION WILL REPORT TO: Vice President of Operations
