Who We are Looking for:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Mechanic to join our team.
This position requires the ability to identify, repair, and maintain various machinery and systems used in the production of food.
Your primary goal will be to ensure all machines are running correctly and efficiently.
This position reports to the Maintenance and Facilities Manager.
Responsibilities:
A good working knowledge of Vertical Form Filling machines (VFF), Pouch Filling Machines, Cappers, Labelers, Pneumatic Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Electrical wiring and troubleshooting, electrical panels, Conveyor systems, HVAC, PLC Programming, General machinery preventative maintenance & service checks for damage and proper function.
Install and maintain any needed physical appliance required to promote proper hygiene and follow SQF standards in the workplace.
Work with the other maintenance team members to repair any other machinery including dust collection or pneumatic systems used in the production of food.
Experience and Education:
High school graduate required.
Preferably 2-yrs post-secondary education in a closely related field and /or industry certification in HVAC, PLC Programming or Electronics.
Along with 3 years of prior documented experience as a Maintenance professional or industry journeyman.
Physical Demands:
This position is physically demanding, requiring long hours on your feet.
The ability to bend, stoop, crawl, climb ladders and lift more than 75lbs on a continuous basis.
Also, the ability to read and interpret building drawings & diagrams and be respiratory protection certifiable.
OSHA regulations are strictly adhered to at all times for this position and preference will be given to those individuals who currently possess a OSHA 10 or 30 hour certification.
This position also requires the operator to work in a team environment and uphold American Crafts high standards of interpersonal relationships at all times.
Work Environment:
The performance of this position requires regular exposure to manufacturing areas where personal protective equipment such as eye protection, hearing protection, hairnets, face mask, gowns, and gloves are commonly worn.
For the most part, ambient room temperatures, lighting, noise, and food facility conditions exist.
You will always be working in a high stress fast-paced environment.
This machinery uses high voltages often exceeding 480v / 100amps- AC as well as high pressure gas systems.
Exposure to hazardous working conditions is often experienced in this role.
Attention to detail and safety are of the utmost importance.
This position requires 40-hours a week shift work of either Day Shift (generally from 6am -330pm daily) or Night Shift (generally from 3:00pm – 11:30pm daily) Monday through Friday and often Saturdays as the demand necessitates.
We also run a 10hr-6 day a week shift during busy times and overtime occurs often; your shifts can vary when this is in effect.
