Process/Manufactuing Engineer
Job Purpose
Wavetronix, the global leader in radar-based vehicle detection technologies, is seeking a Process Engineer whose primary task is to provide support to manufacturing processes through process improvement, machine programming, training and line optimization.
They will be the subject matter expert for all equipment in the sensor and related systems processes, ensuring they are ready for production builds with fixtures, tooling and keeping the maintenance up to date.
They will have the ability to manage improvement projects and show both ROI and soft savings for them.
They will research new equipment and propose new methods and processes for efficiency and scrap reductions.
This position is based in Springville, Utah.
This position will NOT provide relocation assistance nor sponsorship for an immigration case.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in a related engineering field
Demonstrated ability to use Lean manufacturing tools
Ability to learn different processes, tools and disciplines in order to form a hypothesis for improvement
Knowledge and application of root cause analysis tools
Statical knowledge and application of control charts (preferred)
Solidworks experience a plus, other 3D modeling experience (preferred)
Ability to work with others in cross functional teams
1-5 years of experience in an engineering capacity
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure that the Assembly lines are production ready.
This includes programming, fixtures, tooling, maintenance and repair activities.
Be the expert for each piece of equipment in the Assembly line; robots, injection molding equipment, inspection equipment, ovens and test chambers.
Work with production operators and Process Engineers to improve KPI's.
Train and support production personnel in the operation of the equipment.
Initiate and sustain a maintenance program for all equipment.
Create fixtures and/or tools that assist production personnel in the assembly of product.
Ensure that any spare parts needed are available and ordered.
Be able to work with machine vendors for training, repair and proposed improvements.
First 30 Days:
Participate in Wavetronix onboarding
Spend 4 days working with the sensor assembly line in a production capacity
Spend 4 days working with the traffic cabinet device assembly line in a production capacity
Spend 2 days working with the environmental chambers in a production capacity
Spend 2 days with cable assembly and other injection molding operations
Understand and be trained to the Wavetronix system for project and task tracking (ClickUp)
Create SMART goals for the first 6 months
Understand SMT strategies and how you can affect them
First 90 Days:
Gather data and present ideas for manufacturing improvement projects
Complete a process improvement project through to completion
Initiate a relationship with each machine manufacturer and sales reps.
Create a personal training program for each piece of equipment in the assembly process.
Become familiar with the Wavetronix system for part numbers, prints and drawings and how to submit changes
Create a list of potential projects, time and effort needed for completion and estimated budget along with estimated savings in time, cost or money
Actively maintain tasks and schedule using ClickUp software tool.
First 6 Months:
Continue to use observations and interviews with employees to assess the viability and savings of new projects
Complete 3 or more improvement projects and present them to the manufacturing team with total savings
Become expert in two assembly/test processes
Create a training plan on becoming expert in other assigned processes
First Year and Beyond:
Become expert in an additional four or more processes/equipment
Continue to find new areas for potential savings
Actively contribute to team chemistry through peer interaction and positive team contribution
Participate in leadership development efforts
