Open Until Filled Maintenance Technician I - Housekeeping GENERAL PURPOSE Works under the close general supervision of the General Manager and Assistant Manager SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the general supervision of the Conference Center General Manager, Assistant Manager and Maintenance Technician II – Facilities SUPERVISION EXERCISED None.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PRIMARY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Employee Performs facility care and cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, floor stripping, refinishing, carpet cleaning, etc.
Monitors custodial supplies and materials inventory; apprises supervisor of shortages.
Sweeps, buffs, dusts, strips, waxes, washes, and polishes hard surface floors; washes and cleans walls, door frames, doors, and glass; empties and cleans waste receptacles; cleans disinfect, and sanitizes restroom sinks and bowls; cleans restrooms from top to bottom.
Candidate must clean restrooms before, during, and after events.
Washes windows; vacuums and shampoos carpets and entry rugs and mats; maintains work closets.
This person must know how to operate a clothes washer and dryer.
Operates various cleaning equipment such as power buffers, carpet extraction machines, etc.
; mixes chemicals as needed to perform specialized cleaning functions.
Monitors work activities of temporary staffing workers; assure quality of work and compliance with work assignments.
Performs general facility security checks; opens and closes doors, allowing access to facilities during regular work hours.
This person will be asked to perform miscellaneous seasonal or periodic duties.
Performs various logistical and minor maintenance duties; They will be required to sign for deliveries; occasionally assists in performing general maintenance; replaces burned-out lamps.
Provides basic assistance to the general public directing them to various offices and locations within the facilities.
May be asked to assist with pick-up and building delivery duties.
Must be comfortable with heights and ladders.
SECONDARY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The employee will perform ongoing maintenance and cleaning of the UCC; will complete daily work projects related to custodial cleaning; ensure proper kitchen maintenance including grills, tables, chairs, fryers, etc.
; and perform general set up for convention events.
Must have a basic understanding of computers and internet functionality.
Troubleshoot Internet Protocol (IP) devices, such as printers, telephone equipment, and other network-connected devices.
Ensures timely maintenance and preparation of the Conference Center for events Operates general-use facility systems such as lighting, HVAC, sprinklers, speakers, and plumbing.
Verifies credentials of people entering and leaving the premises.
Utilizes radio and telephone communications to report disturbances to law enforcement authorities.
As needed, may perform maintenance and upkeep; assist in landscaping operations related to planting and grooming of lawns, planting beds, trees, and shrubbery; participate in installation and maintenance of sprinkler systems, timers, etc.
; participate in the application of fertilizers and pesticides; operates ATV with mounted spraying equipment to perform weed control spraying.
Ensures proper operation of the security alarm system; tests fire alarms and ensures proper location of extinguishers according to public facility fire codes and fire prevention standards.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Must be able to perform seasonal duties as assigned.
Must be willing to work an event-based schedule.
Some nights and weekends may be required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Education and Experience A.
Graduation from high school/GED; AND B.
Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in building maintenance and other custodial-related fields; OR C.
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Some knowledge of custodial methods and practices; facilities maintenance; equipment and materials used in facility and maintenance operations; hazards and safety precautions common to municipal maintenance and repair activities; Skill in the use of power and hand tools associated with diverse facilities maintenance functions.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, maintain safety and risk management standards; maintain effective preventive maintenance programs; keep operating records and prepare reports; read and understand blueprints; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public; communicate effectively verbally and in writing in the English language.

Special Qualifications: Must be available for 24-hour emergency call-out 4.
Work Environment: The incumbent of the position performs typically in an indoor setting or shop with appropriate climate controls.
Some outdoor work is required in the completion of various projects.
Tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, and reaching.
Lifting requirements are frequently more than 75 pounds.
Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts or in outside weather conditions.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate power tools and equipment.
Essential functions require talking, hearing, and seeing.
Common eye, hand, and finger dexterity exist.
Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating thinking, and creative problem-solving.
Periodic travel is required in the normal course of job performance.
